Being a business owner or hiring manager who has to go through potentially hundreds of applications and resumes can be overwhelming. Even when it comes time to the interview, asking the right questions can be a tricky business. That’s why outsourcing certain business operations can save you a lot of time and money because part of the process of outsourcing involves significantly reduced time for hiring high-caliber professionals. Instead of going through a pool of 500 applicants, by going through a virtual assistant company, the company handpicks 4-5 qualified candidates for you to interview based on the job description (skills, experience, job responsibilities) you provide. You can interview each one to pick the final candidate for the role you want to hire. That’s why we have put together this Virtudesk mock interview, so when you do want to go through the interviewing process and hire a virtual assistant, you know what questions to ask to ensure you find the right fit. This week, Real Estate Broker at Nexus Realty, Vlada Harrison, interviews an Executive Virtual Assistant (EVA), Kavin, about his role and responsibilities on a daily basis.

Virtudesk Mock Interview Questions to Ask an Executive Virtual Assistant

  1. How long have you been a VA [virtual assistant] and can you tell me about your background experience?
  2. What kinds of tasks have you been working on, as an EVA [executive virtual assistant]?
  3. Is the time difference in the Philippines a possible problem?
  4. How do you handle, for example, a particular situation where you are flooded with requests near the end of your shift?

Virtudesk Mock Interview Transcript

Vlada Harrison: Hi Kevin! How are you? I’m Vlada, nice to meet you. Kavin: Hi Vlada. Thank you so much. It’s so nice meeting you as well!  Vlada: I'm glad. I actually have a couple of questions for you I would like to ask. The first one would be, how long have you been a VA [virtual assistant], and can you tell me about your background experience. Kavin: Ok. Well, I’ve actually been a VA for 19 months now. Prior to that, I've been in the BPO [Business Process Outsourcing] industry for 8 years. This consists of but, is not limited to, telecommunications, credit cards, and logistics. Vlada: Perfect, thank you very much for answering that. I have another one. What kinds of tasks have you been working on, as an EVA [executive virtual assistant]? Kavin: Well, as an EVA, primarily my tasks are to check emails on a daily basis. This would consist of particular clients that we have in our database. I call out leads that come through our lead source. I try to book solid leads and appointments as well. Vlada: Wonderful. Let me ask you, is the time difference in the Philippines a possible problem? Kavin: For me, it's not. Throughout the whole day, I am open, and for me, it's basically on the moderations for the clients’ preferred time. Vlada: Great. How do you handle, for example, a particular situation where you are flooded with requests near the end of your shift? Kavin: Well, in these cases and scenarios, I do believe and understand that real estate never sleeps. There are instances where there's a lot of tasks that are impromptu or automatically requested. So, for this, I would go after the whole shift, even if it’s finished, and make sure that all my tasks are completed and submitted to my clients. Vlada: Well, thank you so much for answering all the questions. I really appreciate that and have a wonderful day. Kavin: You too, Vlada. Thank you so much for your time. We hired a VA because we needed help on recruiting for agents and I am very satisfied with my Virtual Assistant. The experience with Virtudesk is really good and I am really really happy.

One of the reasons why we hire a Virtual Assistant is because a VA can’t walk out my door and take my business. Second, the cost value and the third is, we just had a super well qualified hardworking admin – I am very satisfied with my VA. We are also constantly getting follow-ups to ensure that we are very satisfied.
